Community Homes are Pie's home base for the people around a shared interest, group, or creator — here's everything you can do inside one.
What's a Community Home?
A Community Home is a dedicated page for a group — think a festival, a run club, a brand, or a creator — that stays around all year, not just for one event. Every Community Home has:
- A banner image, profile photo, name, and short handle (like p/lollapalooza)
- A member count, sometimes with a custom name for members (a "demonym") — Friends of the W members are called "Lockermates," for example
- An about card with a description, location, and the month the community was founded
- An activity feed of posts and plans from admins and members
- A plans tab listing everything the community has coming up
- A people list showing admins and members — feel free to click into a member’s profile to learn more about them.
- A links section for anything external — social, ticketing, newsletters
Finding and joining one
Right now, Community Homes are shared directly — through a link from the creator, a post, or a plan tied to that community. Open the link and you'll land on the Community Home page.
- Tap join (labeled joined once you're in).
- If the community requires approval, you'll see a Pending status until an admin approves your request.
- Once you're in, you'll show up in the community's member list.
What you can do once you're in
- Post — drop a note or photo in what's happening? box at the top of the activity feed and tap post.
- Like and comment — on any post or plan in the feed. Don’t be shy — ask a question, banter with the group, or float an impromptu plan.
- Browse plans — tap the plans tab to see everything the community has scheduled and RSVP directly.
- Check people — tap view all under People to see the full member directory and search by name.
- Use links — tap anything in the links section to jump to the community's social, tickets, or other resources.
- Share and invite your friends — tap the share icon to grab your Community Home’s link and send it along.
Finding your Community Homes later
Head to your profile to see every Community Home you’ve joined or created, all in one place — handy if you lose track of a link.
Admins vs. members
Admins (marked with a crown icon in the member list) manage the community's photo, banner, details, and links, and handle join requests and removals. As a member, you can post and engage freely, but you won't see any editing controls.
Leaving a Community Home
Tap your joined status on the Community Home page and confirm to leave. You can rejoin later the same way you joined the first time.
Trust & safety
If someone posts something that shouldn't be there, tap the ••• next to their post and choose report user. See Trust & Safety at Pie for how reports are handled.
❓ FAQ
What's a demonym?
It's the custom name a community's admins can give their members — like "Lockermates" for Friends of the W. Not every community sets one; if they haven't, you'll just see a plain member count.
Do I need the app to join a Community Home?
No — joining, posting, and engaging all work the same way on web at getpie.app.
Can I be in more than one Community Home?
Yes, there's no limit.
Can I leave and come back?
Yes — leaving isn't permanent, and you can rejoin anytime.
