At Pie, our goal is to create a safe, respectful, and real-world community. We review all reports carefully and take action when users violate our Community Guidelines.
How enforcement works
We don’t rely on a strict “three-strike” system. Instead, we look at severity, intent, and patterns of behavior when deciding what action to take.
Depending on the situation, actions may include:
- Content removal
- Warnings or education
- Temporary restrictions
- Account suspension
- Permanent account removal
- Escalation to law enforcement (in severe cases)
Severe violations may result in immediate removal from the platform, even on a first offense.
Common reasons accounts are reported
Below are the most common categories of behavior that may lead to enforcement:
1. Inauthentic or misleading accounts
Using a fake identity, impersonating another person, or attempting to bypass a previous ban.
2. Harassment or bullying
Unwanted, repeated, or harmful behavior toward another person, including:
- Persistent messaging after being told to stop
- Insults, intimidation, or targeting someone across plans or messages
3. Sexual harassment or inappropriate behavior
Unwelcome sexual advances, explicit messages, or behavior that makes others uncomfortable.
4. Spam or scam activity
Unsolicited outreach or deceptive behavior, including:
- Mass messaging or friend requests
- Promoting fake opportunities or offers
- Attempts to move conversations off-platform for financial gain
5. Fraud or deceptive schemes
Trying to obtain money, personal information, or trust under false pretenses.
6. Threats or unsafe behavior
Any credible threat of harm, violence, or dangerous activity — whether online or in person.
7. Privacy violations
Sharing someone’s private information, messages, or images without their consent.
8. Illegal or high-risk activity
Using Pie to promote or coordinate illegal actions, including exploitation, trafficking, or sale of restricted goods.
In-person behavior matters
Pie is designed to bring people together in real life. Behavior that happens at events or meetups can also lead to enforcement if it violates our guidelines.
If you ever feel unsafe, we strongly encourage contacting local authorities.
How to report or support someone
If you come across behavior that doesn’t feel right, reporting it helps us keep the community safe.
To report a user:
- Go to the user’s profile
- Tap the three dots in the top right
- Select Report
- You’ll also have the option to block the user at the same time
Blocking prevents that user from contacting you.
If someone needs support:
If you believe someone may be at risk or in immediate danger, we encourage reaching out to local authorities or trusted resources in your area.
If you need additional help, you can reach us anytime at support@getpie.app.
What happens after you report someone
When you submit a report:
- Our team reviews the content and context
- We may take action immediately or investigate further
- We won’t always be able to share the outcome, but every report is reviewed
Our approach
We prioritize:
- User safety
- Fair and consistent enforcement
- Removing bad actors quickly when risk is high
If behavior shows clear harm or intent to misuse the platform, we will act decisively.
