You're running the show, and Pie keeps you in the loop. Here's every notification you'll get as a creator, plus what your guests and members hear from us, so you always know who knows what.
📬 How notifications arrive
Most notifications come by push or text, depending on how each person has their settings set up. A few exceptions:

🎉 When you create a plan
The moment your plan goes live, Pie lets people know. Who gets notified depends on your plan's visibility:

For public and friends-only plans, no extra step is needed: making the plan is your first round of promotion. You can always invite specific people directly, one at a time or to several plans at once.
🔔 What you'll get notified about as a host
Guests and RSVPs
- Someone joined your plan
- Someone asked to join (approval-only plans), so you can approve or decline
- Your plan is full
Co-hosts
- A co-host accepted or declined your invite
- A co-host stepped down
- If you're the co-host: you were invited to co-host, or removed as a co-host
Plan chat
- New messages in your plan chat
Pie Creator Club
- Your application was received, approved, or not approved
- Someone you referred got into the Club
📣 What your guests get notified about
Knowing what your guests see helps you plan your updates.
Major plan updates. Anyone who's joined your plan is automatically notified when you:
- Change the date
- Change the time
- Change the location
- Cancel the plan
Reminders. Guests get a countdown reminder before your plan, plus a "get excited" nudge closer to the day. You don't need to send reminders yourself.
Join requests. On approval-only plans, guests are notified when you approve or decline their request.
Maybes. A Maybe doesn't hold a spot. If you add capacity to your plan, anyone who said Maybe gets a nudge to tap Yes or No.
Paid plans. Guests are notified to pay within a day of being approved. If they don't, their spot goes to someone else and they're told it expired. They're also notified about plan updates (with refund info when relevant), when a refund is issued, and they get an email receipt.
🏠 Running a Home
If you own or admin a Home, you'll get notified when:
- Someone asks to join your Home
- Someone joins your Home
- You're made an admin of a Home
- Someone likes or comments on your post
Only Home owners and admins get join alerts, so your members won't be pinged every time someone new comes in.
Your members get notified when a new plan or post is added to the Home, so sharing a plan there is an easy way to get it in front of your community.

💬 Need to reach everyone? Send a text bump
Text bumps let you send a message straight to your guests by text. They're perfect for last-minute details: parking info, "we're at the back table," or "running 10 minutes late." Learn how to send a text bump.
💡 Guests can turn text bumps off in their settings, so for anything critical, drop it in the plan chat too.
FAQ
Will my guests be notified every time I edit my plan?
Guests are notified about major updates like date, time, location, and cancellations. If you're making several changes, try to make them all at once so your guests aren't getting pinged over and over.
Do my friends and followers get notified for every plan I create?
It depends on the plan's visibility. For public plans, your friends and followers are notified. For friends-only plans, only your Pie friends are. For private plans, only the people you invite directly will hear about it.
Do all my Home members get notified when someone joins?
No. Only Home owners and admins get join requests and join alerts.
Can I turn off notifications for my own plans?
Yes, you can adjust plan alerts in your settings. Just keep in mind you'll miss join requests and full-plan alerts if you do. Here's how to manage your notifications.
Why didn't a guest get my text bump?
They may have turned off text bumps in their settings, or replied STOP to a Pie text, which opts them out at the carrier level.
