What Is a Star on Pie?

A star is how you show someone you're especially interested in connecting.

Starring someone is more intentional than a follow β€” it's a quiet signal that you're genuinely interested. When two people star each other, something clicks: it's a Stars Aligned moment.

What is Stars Aligned?

When you star someone who has already starred you back, you've got Stars Aligned. Both of you get a notification:

"⭐ you stars aligned with [name]! Check out their profile."

Stars Aligned also unlocks direct messaging between you β€” so you can actually talk.

πŸ’‘ You can star anyone on Pie β€” no need to follow them first. Stars are independent of follows and friend requests.

FAQ

Does the other person know I starred them?
Yes β€” they get a notification when you star them.

Does starring someone mean we can message each other?
Not automatically. Messaging unlocks when you both star each other (Stars Aligned). A one-way star doesn't open the DM.

What happens to stars if I block someone?
Stars are removed in both directions when a block is placed β€” including Stars Aligned status.

Is there a limit to how many people I can star?
No limit.

What's the difference between a star and a follow?
A follow is public and one-way β€” you just want to stay in their loop. A star is more personal. When it's mutual, it opens up messaging.
