How to Sync Your Contacts

Syncing your contacts is the fastest way to find people you already know on Pie.

When you give Pie access to your contacts, it matches phone numbers against existing Pie users and surfaces them as people you may know β€” so you're not starting from scratch. Your contact list is never visible to other users or shared publicly.

πŸ“± On the App

Pie will ask for permission to access your contacts when you first sign up. Tap Allow when prompted to enable it.

If you said no the first time:

  1. Open your phone's Settings app.
  2. Scroll down and tap Pie.
  3. Tap Contacts and switch it to On.
  4. Re-open Pie β€” your contacts will sync automatically.

πŸ’» On the Web

Contact syncing requires access to your phone's contact list β€” it's only available on the app.

πŸ’‘ Once enabled, your contacts are matched privately. Only Pie users whose numbers are in your contacts will appear as suggestions β€” and they won't know you synced their number.

FAQ

Why does Pie need my contacts?
So you can find friends you already know. Instead of searching by name, Pie cross-references your contacts and shows you who's already on the app β€” making it way easier to connect.

Is my contact list shared with anyone?
No. Your contacts are used only to find matching Pie users on your behalf. No one else can see who's in your phone.

What if someone in my contacts isn't on Pie yet?
They won't appear as a suggestion. If they join later, Pie will surface them automatically once their number matches.

Do the people I find know I synced their number?
No β€” matching is silent. They won't receive any notification.
