Your location helps Pie show you relevant plans and people nearby.
Whether you’ve moved, are traveling, or just want to explore another city, you can update your location settings anytime.
📍 How Location Works on Pie
Pie uses two things to personalize your experience:
- Your device’s location (if you’ve granted permission)
- The city listed on your profile
Location helps Pie surface plans happening near you and keep your feed relevant to where you are.
If location permissions are disabled, Pie can still use the city listed on your profile.
📱 How to Enable Location Access
When you first sign up, Pie will ask for permission to access your location.
We recommend selecting Allow While Using App or Always.
If you previously denied access:
- Open your phone’s Settings app
- Scroll down and tap Apps →Pie
- Tap Location
- Select While Using the App or Always
- Reopen Pie
💻 On Web
Location permissions aren’t required on web.
For the best experience, make sure your city is updated in your profile.
✏️ How to Change Your City
On the App
- Go to Profile
- Tap Edit Profile
- Update your City
- Tap Save
Your feed will update immediately to reflect plans and activity in that city.
On the Web
- Sign in at getpie.app
- Click your avatar → Edit Profile
- Update your City
- Click Save
Your feed and profile will update right away.
✈️ Traveling with Pie
Pie does not automatically switch your city when you travel.
If you want to discover plans and people in a different city, you’ll need to manually update the city listed on your profile.
When you return home, simply change it back.
At the moment, Pie does not have a temporary travel mode.
🤔 Why Am I Seeing Plans from Other Cities?
If activity in your area is limited, Pie may occasionally show plans from nearby or larger markets.
This helps keep your feed active and gives you more opportunities to discover things happening around you.
We’re continuing to improve how location-based discovery works as Pie grows.
🌎 Is Pie Available Internationally?
Not yet, but we’re hoping to get there.
Pie is currently focused on select markets, so users outside supported areas may see limited activity or plans from nearby regions.

What does Pie use my location for?
Primarily to show you plans happening near you and improve local discovery.
Your location is not used to publicly share where you are.
Will Pie automatically detect when I travel?
No.
Even if location services are enabled, Pie will not automatically switch your city.
To see plans in a new city, you’ll need to update your city manually in your profile.
Can I set my city manually instead of using GPS?
Yes.
Go to Profile → Edit Profile → City and update your location manually.
Pie can use your city setting even if location permissions are turned off.
Does updating my city change what other people see?
Yes.
Your profile will display the city currently listed in your profile settings.
How do I switch back to my home city?
Simply update your city again using the same steps above.
There is no automatic revert when you return home.
Does changing my city affect my account?
No.
Changing your city only affects:
- the plans shown in your feed
- local discovery experiences
- the city displayed on your profile
Your friends, messages, account history, and creator activity remain unchanged.
Is my exact location shared with other users?
No.
Other users only see the city listed on your profile. Your precise GPS location is never displayed publicly.
