Fine-tune who can join and how your guest list grows.
Advanced settings give you control over your plan's access and social dynamics. You'll find these when editing a plan.
Request to Join
When Request to Join is on, people can't join your plan automatically β they send a request and you approve or decline each one.
- Off (default) β Anyone who can see the plan can join freely.
- On β Everyone must request to join, including friends.
π‘ This setting locks the moment you publish. Choose carefully β you can't change it after a plan goes live.
Capacity
Set a maximum number of guests. Once you hit the limit, no more people can join until a spot opens up.
- You can raise or lower the guest cap at any time after publishing.
- Once you've set a capacity, you can't remove it entirely β you can only adjust the number.
- "Maybe" RSVPs aren't allowed on plans with a capacity limit. Anyone who RSVPed Maybe will be moved to Invited when you enable capacity.
Guests Can Invite Others
When this is on, your attendees can share the plan and bring in people who otherwise wouldn't discover it.
- On a Friends Only plan, this means your guests can invite people who aren't your friends β effectively widening the reach.
- On a Public plan, this is always on automatically.
- Turn it off if you want to keep the guest list controlled entirely by you.
FAQ
Can I turn off Request to Join after publishing?
No β that setting is permanent once the plan is live.
What happens to guests who RSVPed Maybe when I add a capacity?
They're automatically moved to Invited status. They'll need to RSVP again.
If I lower the capacity below the current headcount, what happens?
Existing attendees aren't removed β the cap only stops new people from joining.
Does Guests Can Invite Others override my visibility setting?
Not exactly β the plan still won't appear in feeds for non-friends. But if a guest shares the link, the recipient can open it and join. See Plan Visibility on Pie for more.
